We, Michaela and Erich with Maximilian & Mona-Lisa, the proud descendants of Christine and Alfred, have taken over the hotel in the second generation. Together with our dedicated team, we are determined to make your stay at the Hotel & Apartment Sonnblick in Zell am See-Kaprun unforgettable.

The early beginnings
Welcome to Hotel Sonnblick, a place with a fascinating history that dates back to 1956 when it was founded as "Gästehaus Schlosser" by the Schlosser family with 40 beds.
In 1976, the hotel was renamed "Sonnblick" and, under the lease of Alfred Muxel, it became a popular retreat for travelers. Under his leadership, significant changes were introduced, including the offer of half board for the first time, which made the stay even more pleasant for our guests. In 1980, Mr. Muxel eventually purchased the hotel and laid the foundation for a new era.
DEVELOPMENT AND UPGRADES
In 1988, a crucial step was taken in the development of our establishment: an expansion from 40 to 70 beds and the classification as a 4-star hotel. This marked a milestone in our history and underscored our commitment to quality and comfort.
In the following years, from 1992 to 2004, we continuously focused on upgrades and improvements. Refurnishing the rooms and numerous other measures contributed to always offering the best to our guests.
RENOVATIONS AND REDESIGNS
In 2002, Erich and Michaela Muxel-Rexeisen took over the management and brought fresh, young energy into our hotel. Under their leadership, a total of 22 rooms as well as public areas were renovated in 2005, followed by a comprehensive redesign of the hotel restaurant and the remaining 13 rooms in 2009.
In 2012, the entrance area, reception, hotel bar, hotel restaurant, and SPA area were completely rebuilt to provide our guests with a modern and appealing ambiance.
RENOVATION AND EXPANSION
The years 2019 to 2020 marked another milestone in our history: a comprehensive general renovation and complete gutting of the hotel, as well as the expansion to 45 rooms with a total of 90 beds. This step solidified our position as a leading hotel in the region and underscores our commitment to the highest comfort and quality.
These beginnings and our continuous development still shape our identity and service today.
